A German author and translator; born at Dresden, Feb. 9, 1838. He filled the chair of German language and literature in the University of Naples, but resigned in 1882. He has traveled extensively in Italy, and his writings treat almost exclusively of that country. Prominent among them are: "Wanderings in Italy" (1874); "Under the Olives" (1880); "Pompeiian Tales" (1882); "Italian Sketches and Pictures of Civilization" (1889); "Italian Plaster Casts" (1891).

- An enzyme that catalyzes the of groups from acetyl-CoA to arylamines. They have wide specificity for aromatic amines, particularly serotonin, and can also catalyze acetyl transfer between arylamines without CoA. EC 2.3.1.5.
