A South African plant, Nat. Ord. Urticaceae; the decoction of which is taken as a domestic remedy by the farmers, as a tonic in dyspepsia. A tincture has been used in gravel. An infusion of the leaves is demulcent, and is employed in pulmonary affections. The leaves are applied fresh, to cure wounds and ulcers.
