The art of begetting beautiful children. This was the title of a poem by Claude Quillet, in 1655; "Callipoedia sive de pulchroe prolis habendoe ratione." The author absurdly supposes, that the beauty of children is affected by the sensations which the mother experiences during her pregnancy.
