an action brought against the defendant, before the Circuit Court of Massachusetts, 1811, for payment of two promissory notes. Transferred to the Supreme Court of the United States in 1819. The defendant had pleaded a discharge by the insolvency law of New York before the Circuit Court, but the judgment was found against him. This judgment was reversed by the Supreme Court, which recognized the insolvency law of New York as constitutional, but with certain limitations.
