Urine which has been shaken with chloroform and barium chlorid is then centrifugalized. The chloroform barium sediment is suspended in alcohol and treated with an acidified solution of iodin and mercuric chlorid in alcohol. A bluish green or green color indicates the presence of bile pigments.
