A modern Greek dramatic poet, who seems to have been a native of Crete and to have flourished about 1620. His tragedy of "Erophile" (1637; new ed. 1879) is the first play written in the "new" or modern Greek; the work possesses many merits, and was at one time very popular because of its epigrammatic sententiousness, but its imitation of Giraldi's "Orbecche" is palpable.
