A Spanish litterateur; born in Madrid near 1815. He followed the career of a journalist, writing many successful articles in criticism and history. He has published: "The Mother of St. Frederick", a drama well received; "Before You Marry", "The Hypocrite", and "For a Watch and a Hat", all comedies; "History of the Naval Combat of Lepanto", regarded as the best description of that battle ever written; and many translations.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
