An Italian historian; born at Florence, 1595; died 1670. He was a Cistercian monk and abbot. His principal work is "Italia Sacra" (9 vols., 1642-48), an account of all the episcopal sees of Italy, with lists of the bishops and a great deal of general information regarding the history of Italy. He wrote also "Christian Gaul" (1656).
