The base of biliary calculi, called also Chol'esterine. Also, a sort of soap, formed from animal matter under certain circumstances. The human body, when it has been for some weeks in water, assumes this appearance; and it has been a subject of legal inquiry, what length of time is necessary to produce it. This must, of course, depend upon various circumstances, as climate, season, &c.
