The centers of origin of the acoustic nerve. See auditory nuclei.

The cortical center of the acoustic nerve; a region situated in the posterior two thirds of the superior temporal convolution. Lesions of the gray substance, or the underlying white substance in this region, produce the condition called psychical deafness.
